We’re not getting LNG contract: Indonesia

ChevronTexaco’s Gorgon project in Western Australia was cut from the list last week with the rival North West Shelf producer reportedly still in the running.

According to the Chairman of Indonesia’s oil and gas upstream watchdog BP Migas, Rachmat Sudibyo, “That’s what we’ve heard. But we’re still waiting for official notification from Kogas.”

“Indonesia participated in the tender so as to meet Kogas’ demand for six tons of LNG per year starting 2008 for 20 to 25 years. [We] planned to secure the supply from Bontang and Tangguh LNG fields,” he added.

The inability of Mobil’s LNG facility in Aceh to honour sales commitments has led Kogas to source from other producers.
